I had the opportunity to attend the European Prison Chess Championship in Teramo, Italy, an event that once again demonstrated how the power of chess extends far beyond competition.



As President of the Swiss Chess Federation and Chair of the Social Commission of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), I have been committed for many years to promoting chess as a tool for education, integration, and rehabilitation. Meeting the participants and experiencing the unique atmosphere of the tournament once again reinforced my belief in the positive impact chess can have.
